MK Critters is an informal furry community group based in Milton Keynes, UK. This page explains how our website handles your information and our use of cookies. It is written to be plain and honest: this is a simple, static marketing site, and it is built to collect as little as possible.

The short version

This website does not set tracking or advertising cookies and has no sign-up forms, accounts, or comment boxes. We use a single privacy-friendly analytics service (Vercel Web Analytics) that counts page views without cookiesand without identifying you. We do not build profiles of visitors or sell anyone’s data — we don’t have any to sell.

Who is responsible for your data

MK Critters is the “data controller” for this website. We don’t have a public email address at the moment — the best way to reach us about anything on this page is via our Discord or Telegram community channels.

A dedicated privacy contact address will be added here if and when one is set up.

What information we collect

Through the website itself, we collect no personal information from you directly. There is nothing to fill in and nothing to log in to.

Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically processes some limited technical information needed to deliver the pages to you and to keep the site secure — for example your IP address, browser type, and which pages were requested. This is standard server-log information, is retained by our hosting provider for a limited period, and is not used to identify or track you.

Our lawful basis for this limited processing is our legitimate interests in delivering the website reliably and keeping it secure. We only process what is needed for those purposes.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website can store in your browser. The public pages of this website do not set any cookies— our analytics is cookieless, and we set no advertising or other non-essential cookies. You should be able to browse the whole site without a single cookie being stored, which is why you won’t see a cookie-consent banner.

The one exception is our behind-the-scenes content editor, which team members use to update events and other content. Signing in there sets a session cookie, but that only applies to logged-in editors — never to ordinary visitors browsing the site.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the site:

• Vercel — hosts the website and delivers it to your browser, and provides Vercel Web Analytics: a privacy-friendly, cookieless service that gives us anonymous, aggregated page-view counts. It does not set cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. Vercel also processes the standard server-log information described above.
• GitHub— stores the website’s content and code. This only involves our own team’s data, not visitors’.

Our website also links out to Discord and Telegram. When you follow those links you leave this site and are covered by their own privacy policies, not this one. If you choose to join those communities, any information you share there is handled under Discord’s or Telegram’s terms.

Where your data is processed

Vercel and GitHub are based in the United States, so the limited technical information described above may be processed on servers outside the UK. Where that happens, these providers rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law — such as the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or an adequacy decision — to protect your information to the standard required here.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Because this website holds essentially no personal data about visitors, in most cases there will be nothing for us to hold, correct, or erase — but if you have any questions, please get in touch through our community channels.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site works in a way that affects your privacy — for example by adding analytics or a contact form — we will update this page and change the “last updated” date above.
